What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?

You recently purchased a new or used vehicle and want to protect your investment? PPF is the right solution

Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, thermoplastic urethane film that is applied to the exterior and interior painted parts of a vehicle to protect it from damage. It’s commonly used on areas of the car that are prone to getting chipped or scratched, such as the front bumper, hood, side mirrors, fenders and interior piano black finishes.

Advantages of Paint Protection Film

PPF keeps your vehicle looking newer longer by preventing wear and tear from rocks, bugs, sand, keys, salt and the elements. Paint protection film has UV protection and the film is virtually invisible (clear), durable and easy to maintain and has self-healing technology to remove minor scratches or marks when heat is applied to the film surface.

What the various varieties of PPF?

PVC

The third most utilized synthetic plastic polymer in the world is PVC, or polyvinyl chloride. Since PVC PPF was the earliest and most widely utilized form of PPF, PVC films are often referred to as first-generation PPF. While PVC Films do offer some paint protection for your car, they are challenging to install due to their hard structure. Additionally, PVC typically hardens within 1 to 3 years of life and tends to lose both its elasticity and color over time. Another serious drawback.

TPH

TPH is a polymer using Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) as its foundation that is less expensive than TPU and more effective than PVC Films. Although PVC serves as the foundation of the TPH Film, the technology employed enhances PVC’s flexibility and chemical characteristics. The result is that the TPH material is more flexible than PVC and does not discolor. However, in terms of general flexibility, toughness, and life, TPU outperforms it.

TPU

Thermoplastic Polyurethane, also known as TPU, is the answer to every issue PVC Films presented and is referred to as the new generation paint protection film. TPU has a different chemical structure than conventional PVC, which makes it far more flexible and long-lasting. TPU Films are simple to install without the use of heat guns or other tools thanks to their exceptional flexibility. TPU films are extremely durable; they do not lose their elasticity over time or develop cracks or discoloration. TPU Films are easy to apply and remove without causing any harm to the original paint.

Advantages of applying Paint Protection Film

  • Applying Paint Protection Film (PPF) to your vehicle offers several advantages, making it a popular choice among car owners looking to protect their investment. Here are some key advantages of applying PPF:
  • Protection from Physical Damage: PPF acts as a barrier against road debris, stones, gravel, insects, and other minor abrasions that can cause chips, scratches, or etching on the vehicle’s paint surface.
  • Preserves Resale Value: By preventing damage to the original paint, PPF helps maintain the appearance of your vehicle. This can preserve its resale value because potential buyers are more likely to be attracted to a car with well-maintained paintwork.
  • Self-Healing Properties: Many PPF products have self-healing capabilities. Minor scratches and swirl marks on the film can vanish with exposure to heat (such as sunlight) or warm water, keeping the film looking newer for longer.
  • Enhanced Gloss and Clarity: PPF is designed to be optically clear, preserving the glossy finish of your vehicle without altering its appearance.
  • UV Protection: PPF typically provides some level of protection against UV rays, which can cause paint to fade or deteriorate over time.
  • Ease of Maintenance: PPF is easy to clean and maintain. You can wash and wax your vehicle as usual, and the film can be polished if necessary to maintain its appearance.
  • Longevity: When properly applied and maintained, PPF can last for several years, providing long-term protection against environmental hazards.
